A Lyft driver has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a passenger.
According to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office, the assault happened at a home in Nipomo on November 4.
Sheriff’s officials say the victim told investigators she requested a Lyft driver because she was too drunk to drive herself home. She said the Lyft driver helped her inside the house, she passed out, and the driver assaulted her.
Investigators have identified the suspect as Jason Lamont Fenwick, 51, of Lompoc. He was arrested on suspicion of oral copulation with an intoxicated victim, sexual penetration with a foreign object with an intoxicated victim, and burglary.
The sheriff’s office says Fenwick has been a Lyft driver for more than a year, working in both San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. Anyone with information about this case or any other potential victims is urged to call the sheriff’s office at (805) 781-4500.
