Six people were displaced after a home caught fire on the 1700 block of San Andres Street in Santa Barbara Sunday night, Santa Barbara City Fire Department Public Information Officer Kevin Corbett said.

The call came in just before 7:00 p.m. Fire crews say residents were outside of the home by the time they arrived. Heavy smoke and flames were coming out of the single-family home.

Three fire engines, a ladder truck, a hazardous materials unit, and Battalion Chief responded to the fire, which was knocked down in just over ten minutes.

The damage of the home was estimated to be $100,000.

While the cause of this fire is under investigation, Corbett says most residential structure fires are related to cooking incidents.
