The Santa Maria Police Department arrested a man from Nipomo for threats to “shoot up” a convalescent home.

The police department got the initial report at 3:47 p.m on Oct. 18. According to a press release, employees reported that the 56-year-old Robert Clement called several times and yelled profanities before threatening to “shoot up the place.”

The press release said Clement was angry because of the lack of care his elderly mother received from the staff.

The police department said the employee on the phone with Clement immediately called 911, out of fear that he would follow through with his threat. Police said Clement does have firearms registered to him.

Officers arrested Clement, who lives in a Nipomo trailer on his brother’s property.

The San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office and Santa Maria Police Department officers made the arrest. Police said they also took several firearms and booked them as evidence.

Clemente is booked into Santa Barbara County Jail.
