Wednesday was the last scheduled community donation drop-off day before this weekend’s Santa Barbara County Veterans Stand Down event; however, organizers say they’ll accept donations again for a short time on Thursday.
Donations of blankets, new socks, underwear, shirts, coats, pants, and shoes in all sizes are still needed.
Organizers say donations will be accepted at the Santa Maria Fairpark convention center on October 18 until noon.
The Stand Down is scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 20, in Santa Maria. Veterans will be offered hot food, showers, clothing, hygiene items, medical exams, social services, help with benefits, employment counseling, and other services.
