and last updated

The Goleta City Council has approved another year of the temporary parking permit program to help cut down on Halloween traffic and parking congestion.

The program began in 2014 and has been reinstated each year since. Under the restrictions, each household in affected areas will receive two parking permits in the mail by October 20.

The restrictions go in effect between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. October 26 through October 28, when most partygoers are expected to be in the area.

City council members will impose restrictions for Goleta neighborhoods closest to Isla Vista, including the Cannon Green Condominium complex, University 1 and University 2 neighborhoods.

The boundaries, shown in the map below, are:

  • Cannon Green Drive to the west
  • Hollister Avenue to the north
  • Storke Road to the east
  • Whittier Drive to the west

Parking restrictions will only be in effect during the evening and overnight hours. Vehicles without permits will be cited or towed at the owner’s expense.
