Two former Allan Hancock College basketball players convicted of murder were sentenced Monday to life behind bars without the possibility of parole.

The judge handed down the maximum sentence to Ali Mohammed and Lavell White during the morning hearing in a Santa Maria courtroom.

Mohammed and White were convicted by a jury in April of first-degree murder with a special circumstance of murder during the commission of a robbery in connection with the Dec. 30, 2014 shooting death of Terence Richardson in Santa Maria.

Mohammed, 23, and White, 26, have both been in custody at Santa Barbara County Jail since their arrest in January 2015.
