UPDATE: CHP identifies pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on Hwy 101 in Paso Robles

UPDATE (10:30 a.m.) – CHP released the name of the man killed in a hit-and-run in Paso Robles Thursday morning.

Officers say the victim was Nathanial J. Weatherly, 22. His last known residence was in San Miguel, but officers say Weatherly was a local transient in northern San Luis Obispo County.


UPDATE: (8:55 a.m.) – The California Highway Patrol says the southbound lanes of Highway 101 in Paso Robles reopened at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday. A SIG Alert was still in effect for the area an hour later, but was canceled by 8:45 a.m.

Officers say the driver involved in the collision took off after the crash. Authorities are working to identify the victim.


UPDATE (7:09 a.m.) – A pedestrian is dead following a crash on Highway 101 southbound in Paso Robles.

The CHP said that a car hit and killed a person on the road near the 13th Street overpass shortly after 5 a.m. Thursday.

As of 7 a.m., cars are still being detoured from 17th Street onto side streets. Law enforcement officers are still investigating the crash.


ORIGINAL STORY – Highway 101 southbound in Paso Robles is shut down because of a car crash.

The CHP is investigating a crash that involved a car and a pedestrian on Highway 101 near the 13th Street overpass around 5 a.m. Thursday. Cars are being redirected off Highway 101 at 17th Street. The 24th Street on ramp is closed.

CHP officers said Highway 101 could be closed for up to two hours as they investigate.

No other details were immediately available.
