San Luis Obispo County’s Early Warning System sirens will be tested again this week.

The low-volume growl tests of the 131 sirens in the Diablo Canyon Emergency Planning Zone are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Each siren will sound for a few seconds. County officials say since it is only a test, the public does not need to take any action.

The tests are done four times a year and help officials make sure the system works properly.

The sirens can be used for any local emergency where the public would need to “take action,” such as an earthquake, tsunami, dam failure, problems at Diablo Canyon Power Plant and more.
