Bird electric scooters have arrived in Santa Barbara County.
The company said they are bringing a fleet of the scooters to Isla Vista Thursday.
A Bird press release said the new environmentally-friendly transportation option can help residents and students get where they need to go while getting cars off the road.
The electric scooter company tried to expand to San Luis Obispo but got shut down.
The San Luis Obispo City Active Transportation Manager Adam Fukushima said city staff met with representatives from Bird and watched a presentation on the business, but the city is still considering whether the scooters are a good fit for the community.
Lime also expressed interest in launching in San Luis Obispo but has not been able to expand to the area.
