Robbery reported at Atascadero Chevron gas station

(UPDATE 1:45 p.m., 9/21/18) – Atascadero police are asking for the public’s help to identify the man who robbed the Chevron gas station on Montecito Ave. Thursday night.

Police say the man pulled out a butcher knife and demanded cash, which he claimed he needed to buy fuel for his vehicle. Investigators say he then took a three-pack of Budweiser and drove away.

He was wearing a black, white and yellow Padres baseball cap with a yellow bill, dark blue zip-up sweatshirt with white strings, light blue denim jeans, and prescription eyeglasses with a thick black frame.

His vehicle is believed to be an early 2000s model Lexus SUV with an antenna extending from the rear passenger side near the trunk window.

Atascadero Police are investigating a robbery at the Chevron gas station on Montecito Avenue.

It happened at about 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Police say the suspect entered the business, brandished a large knife and stole alcohol.

Police are searching for a suspect, who they say was spotted and fled on foot.

The suspect is described as a male adult, around 40-years-old with a gray goatee.

Officers utilized the Atascadero Police Department canine unit, units from the San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office and SLO County Probation Department to conduct a search for the suspect.

No injuries were reported.
