UPDATE: Fire burns 5.6 acres along Hwy 46 East

UPDATE (4:28 p.m.) – CAL FIRE SLO reports the fire burned a total of 5.6 acres. Equipment is being released from the scene.


 

UPDATE (3:05 p.m.) – CAL FIRE SLO reports that forward progress of the fire has been stopped.

It’s estimated the fire burned approximately 5-6 acres.

Crews are expected to remain on scene for another hour or two extinguishing hot spots.


 

(2:55 p.m.) – Firefighters were battling a small grass fire that broke out along the side of Highway 46 Friday afternoon in northern San Luis Obispo County.

CAL FIRE SLO reported the fire near Gruenhagen Flat Road between Paso Robles and Shandon was estimated to have burned about one acre as of 2:39 p.m.

Aircraft were overhead and fire engines and dozers were also responding.

The fire was said to have a slow to moderate rate of spread.
