Update (12:46 p.m.): A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Santa Maria Monday evening, police said.
The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Betteravia Road and Oakley Avenue, officers said.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop and was last seen traveling westbound on Betteravia Road.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene. Police said he has been identified but his name is being withheld until his next of kin is notified.
Police said the suspect was driving a dark-colored sedan.

Police in Santa Maria are investigating a deadly hit-and-run.
Officials say the call came in around 8:30 Monday night on Betteravia Road near Oakley Avenue. Responding officers say a body was found at the scene.
As of 10:45 p.m., police were still at the scene investigating the cause of the fatality.
The road was closed to traffic into the overnight hours.
Police Tuesday morning said no arrests had been made and the suspect vehicle was still outstanding.
