Early Election Night results show incumbent Alice Patino with a strong lead over her two challengers in the Santa Maria mayoral race.
As of 10:30 p.m., Patino has 67% of the vote. Will Smith and Alberto Ugalde each have approximately 16%.
"You know, I try to do what is best for people in Santa Maria, all people in Santa Maria, and I am so excited that people would support me and think that I am doing a good job," Patino said Tuesday night.
One seat for District 1 City Council is also up for grabs this election, with four candidates on the ballot. Carlos Escobedo is leading with 1,367 votes. Osvaldo Sotelo has 1,046 votes, Brian Billones has 376 votes, and Christopher Diaz has 323 votes.
Mike Cordero is the only candidate running for District 2 City Council.
