Heather Moreno takes lead in Atascadero mayoral race, two city council seats up for grabs

Three people are vying for the title of Mayor of Atascadero.

This November, incumbent Heather Moreno was challenged by Jerry Tanimoto and Josh Donovan.

As of 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, Moreno is leading with 43% of the vote, with Tanimoto in second with 35% and Donovan with 21%.

Tanimoto is a retired Atascadero High School teacher and business owner. Donovan is a Marine Corps veteran and business owner. In addition to serving as mayor, Moreno is a licensed CPA and owner of a wellness business.

Two seats on the Atascadero City Council will also be decided this election.

Charles Bourbeau and Mark Dariz are leading this race with 28% and 25% of the votes respectively.

Tori Keen trails with 24%, Nick Heinemann with 17% and Mark Dariz with 6% of the vote.
