This year, two candidates are running for Mayor of Solvang.

Solvang City Councilwoman Karen Waite and Deputy Sheriff Charlie Uhrig are looking to take the mayoral seat.

Uhrig leads at 57% with Waite trailing behind at 43% as of early Wednesday morning on Nov. 4.

Neither current Solvang Mayor Ryan Toussaint nor council members Karen Waite and David Johnson are seeking re-election to their seats, leaving two seats up for grabs on the city council.

Mark Infanti has the highest percentage of votes at 31%, with Claudia Orona following at 27%, Justin Rodriguez at 25%, and Chris Bowyer at 17%.

Technology education businessman Jamie Baker and retired sheriff and fire chief Jim Thomas are running to replace Councilman Chris Djernaes, shall a recall effort prevail.

Both mayoral candidates have voiced support for the recall effort of Djernaes.

The recall, Measure P on the ballot, was passing with 87% yes votes and Thomas leading with nearly 70% of the vote.
