There were long lines at the Santa Barbara County Government Center in Santa Maria Tuesday evening as voters waited to cast their ballots at the elections office.

The hallway and waiting room were packed with people. One person told KSBY News they had been waiting to cast their ballot for nearly two hours.

The polls close at 8 p.m. on Election Day in California.

Poll workers at the elections office in Santa Maria say their doors will remain open until that time and everyone inside the building by 8 p.m. will have an opportunity to vote. They say it’s the busiest Election Day they’ve ever had.
