SLO County adds 40 new COVID-19 cases

San Luis Obispo County added 40 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the county's total to 2,882 confirmed cases as of August 28.

Fifteen people are hospitalized, including two patients who are in the ICU.

Another 432 people are recovering at home and 2,413 have recovered.

San Luis Obispo County has had 21 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

  • Cambria - 31

  • Santa Margarita - 24
  • Cayucos - 14
  • Avila Beach - 7
  • San Simeon - 6
  • Creston - 6

The location of eight cases is listed as "under investigation," and another seven are listed as "other," which includes communities with fewer than five cases. The Public Health Department is not identifying those locations.

COVID-19 tests are currently available to the public in Grover Beach, San Luis Obispo, and Nipomo.

The pop-up testing clinic in Nipomo will be open Monday through Thursday until September 3.
