Many local school districts have extended school closures.

Schools in the San Luis Coastal Unified School District will now remain closed through at least May 1.

The schools were originally set to re-open April 15, but Friday's vote by the board assigned April 15 and 16 as teacher prep days so that students can continue virtual learning through May 1.

The board also voted that should the district's superintendent need to extent closures beyond May 1, he can do so without board approval, if necessary.

San Luis Coastal is not the first school to extend closures.

The Lompoc Unified School District this week announced its schools would remain closed through the end of April.

The Paso Robles Unified School District is closed indefinitely, with the earliest date its classes would resume being May 4.

And the Lucia Mar Unified School District said Friday its schools would also remain closed through at least May 1.
