The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department (PHD) says a second person in the county has tested positive for novel coronavirus, or COVID-19.

The patient is a North County resident in their 50s with no underlying health conditions. Health officials say this person has no history of travel within or outside the United States but did have contact with someone confirmed to have COVID-19.

Health officials say the patient is recovering in isolation at home until cleared by the Public Health Officer.

The Health Department is working to identify others who may have had close contact with this person, including friends, family members, or health care professionals. Those people will be monitored and tested for infection, if needed.

More information about the county's response to the coronavirus can be found at www.publichealthsbc.org. Residents may also call the County Call Center Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5p.m. at (833) 688-5551.
