Morro Bay Transit will provide free bus service to community members starting on Monday while the statewide shelter-at-home order is in place.

A spokesperson for Morro Bay Transit said in a press release Sunday that bus operators are cleaning the interiors of their vehicles more frequently and advising riders to not use public transit if they are feeling ill.

"The City's hope is to provide lifeline transport services for those in need they may have been economically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and also minimize contact between bus operators and riders at the farebox area when entering the vehicle," said the spokesperson.

While Morro Bay Transit is not currently operating on its normal schedule, the spokesperson said transit services will be monitored and adjusted as necessary to continue providing basic lifeline services for the public.
