26 new cases of COVID-19 reported in SLO County

San Luis Obispo County reported 26 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the county's total to 701 confirmed cases as of July 3.

Nine people are hospitalized, including six patients who are in the ICU.

Another 206 people are recovering at home and 484 people have recovered.

San Luis Obispo County has had two deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Free COVID-19 tests are currently available to the public in Grover Beach and San Luis Obispo.

A pop-up testing clinic will also be located in Atascadero from Monday, July 6, through Thursday, July 9.

Health officials say 282, or about 40%, of the county's total cases are the result of the patient having direct contact with a person who tested positive for the virus; 230 cases are attributed to community spread; and, 78 cases are the result of travel outside the county. Another 112 cases are still under investigation.

  • Cayucos - 6

An additional 19 cases are in communities with fewer than five cases, and the Public Health Department is not identifying those locations. The location of two cases is listed as "unknown."
