In an attempt to provide relief for California taxpayers, the Franchise Tax Board (FTB) says state tax deadlines are further postponed until July 15 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Taxpayers do not need to claim any special treatment or call FTB to qualify for this relief.
"Hopefully, this small measure of relief will help allow people to focus on their health and safety during these challenging times," said State Controller Betty T. Yee, who serves as chair of FTB.
FTB previously extended the due dates for filing and payment last week for affected taxpayers until June 15. But since the Internal Revenue Service granted a longer relief period, California was able to extend this relief period.
FTB is still encouraging citizens to file taxes on time in order to receive refunds timely as well. FTB continues to process tax returns, issue refunds, and provide phone and live chat service to taxpayers needing assistance.
