UPDATE ( 8 p.m.) – NBC Bay Area is saying there are multiple injuries reported in the shooting.

According to their site, a witness, Julissa Contreras, told NBC Bay Area that she saw a white mane in his early to mid-30’s firing a rifle that was “able to shoot three to four shots a second.”

“It was just rapid firing,” she said. “I could see him shooting in just every direction. He wasn’t aiming at anyone specifically. It was just left to right, right to left. He definitely was prepared for what he was doing,” she said.

San Jose police and fire units were responding to the scene to assist, according to a tweet from Mayor Sam Liccardo.

One witness told NBC Bay Area he was on his way out when felt a bullet pass by his head, and when he turned around, he saw everyone running.

According to Gilroy police, this is still an active situation.
