UPDATE: CAL FIRE terminates search for possible missing swimmer in Pismo Beach

UPDATE (6:30 p.m.)- A reporter on the scene said CAL FIRE believes the possible missing swimmer was a seal.


UPDATE (5:23 p.m.)- CAL FIRE has terminated the search for the missing swimmer, they said after an extensive search no one was found.


UPDATE (5:15 p.m.)- CAL FIRE said there are currently two boats, one helicopter, four rescue swimmers and a rescue watercraft searching for the possible swimmer.

They said a witness said they possibly saw the swimmer in distress.

As of now, the Pismo Beach Police Department said they have not received a missing person report.


(Original Story– 4:55 p.m.)- CAL FIRE said it is looking for a possible missing swimmer in the water near the end of Addie St. in Pismo Beach Friday afternoon.

The fire agency tweeted about the incident at 4:45 p.m.

It said Cal Fire, Pismo Beach Lifeguards, SLO County USAR, California Highway Patrol, Harbor Patrol and the U.S. Coast Guard and a helicopter looking for the possible missing swimmer.
