Gas prices are falling slightly, just as drivers hit the roads for a weekend getaway.
According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in San Luis Obispo County on Friday was $4.13. That’s down two cents from Thursday and down five cents from a week ago.
In Santa Barbara County, AAA says the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $4.04 on Friday. That’s about the same price as Thursday, and it’s down about 4 cents from a week ago.
Prices on the Central Coast are slightly higher than the California average, which is $3.97.
However, local prices are significantly higher than the national average, which stands at $2.83 currently.
Experts say increased gasoline production and higher gasoline stock levels have helped suppress the prices at the pump, even despite higher demand.
