Lompoc police are searching for the man involved in a stabbing.

Police were called to the Lompoc Valley Medical Center on Thursday after a victim arrived at the hospital with a stab wound.

Officers spoke with the victim, who told police he was leaving work for the day near the old drive-in.

The victim says he noticed a transient setting up a camp. The victim told the man he couldn’t camp there and asked him to leave.

At this point, the man reportedly pulled out a utility knife and threatened to kill the victim.

He then charged at the victim and stabbed him in the shoulder area.

Police say the man fled toward the riverbed and disappeared.

Officers searched the area but weren’t able to find anyone.

The victim is listed in stable condition.

The attacker is described as being a white male adult in his 40s with dirty blonde hair and scruffy facial hair. He is about 5’10” and weighs 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt and black pants.

Anyone with information on the stabbing or the man involved is asked to contact Lompoc police at 805-736-2341.
