UPDATE (7:11 p.m.) – Lompoc police say a shooting on Q Street Wednesday afternoon was gang-related.
The police department says officers received several 911 calls reporting gunshots near North Q Street and West Apple Avenue.
Officers quickly detained three male suspects leaving the area, who reportedly matched the description of the suspects provided by several witnesses.
Police arrested Juan Duarte, 18, and two juveniles.
Police say the three suspects are also documented gang members and associates.
Investigators say they determined a rival gang member was the intended target.
A home in the area was hit by several bullets, which went through an interior wall and nearly struck an elderly woman who was asleep inside.
No injuries were reported.
Anyone who has information or surveillance video of the area is asked to contact the Lompoc Police Department.
UPDATE (2:47 p.m.) – A KSBY crew in Lompoc says the scene of Wednesday’s shooting investigation has cleared.
Officers told the crew as they were leaving the scene that they found a bullet hole in the door of a home in the area.
UPDATE (2:21 p.m.) – Lompoc police say the shooting happened in the 400 block of North Q street.
Police say one adult and two juveniles are in custody.
No one was injured.
More information is expected to be released later in the day.
ORIGINAL STORY (1:48 p.m.) – Lompoc police responded to reports of a shooting Wednesday afternoon.
Police weren’t able to release any specific details to KSBY, however, officers did confirm there was a shooting.
Lompoc High School officials tell KSBY there was police activity off campus and that it was dealt with by officers.
They say the school was not put on lockdown and there is no danger to students.
