Seven United States veterans were each presented a quilt Monday in honor of their service during war time.

The Quilting Angels works with the American Legion Auxiliary to make quilts and donate them.

All seven quilts presented to the veterans have patriotic themes.

Shirley Bradshaw, a member of the Quilting Angels, said they are happy to give back.

“For Memorial Day, we like to give the quilts that have something to do with red, white and blue and the country that we love,” Bradshaw said.

The Quilting Angels are the philanthropic branch of the Central Coast Quilters, a non-profit organization established for the purpose of promoting interest in the historical art of American quilt making. They have donated more than 2000 quilts.
