An upper trough is lingering over The West and areas of low pressure and cool unstable air aloft will combine to bring another round of showers Tuesday into early Wednesday.

An nonseasonal cold trough lingers across the SW through mid-week keeping shower chances possible. After Tuesday the best chances are at higher elevations but regardless this position also keeps…

Even though that is the best opportunity for rain there will be minor lingering instability into Thursday which could touch off a shower here and there but not widespread or heavy rain.

Here is a look at our high res modeling for Tuesday morning. You’ll see plenty of scattered showers with unstable air lingering over the area into mid-week.

Through Wednesday rainfall looks light but it isn’t 0. Most of this falls Tuesday but a few drops here and there linger into Wednesday.

Generally conditions this week will be partly to mostly cloudy outside the periods of scattered showers. There will also be periods of windy conditions. There are wind advisories and high surf advisories today.

Rain amounts should be under .20″ for most, some higher elevations could see more than that thru Wednesday as the upper level disturbance is the main driver.

Models are a bit split on the extended forecast. At this point I am going with a dry forecast for Friday and Saturday. Sunday comes with questions as some models actually show yet another low pressure center rotating our way. At this point we’ll just watch to see if this actually develops and keep rain optimism in check, but could we see another round of showers in May…it is at least possible.

Here is a look back at the rainfall that fell over the weekend:

Here are the cumulative rainfall totals for the counties as of 7pm. Pretty good weekend of rainfall. Still another opportunity on Tuesday.
