The JCC-Federation of San Luis Obispo holds the first annual Central Coast Festival of Jewish Learning.
The learning festival takes place on May 17 – 19 at the Cal Poly Campus.
Friday marks the first day of the festival and multiple Holocaust survivors spoke at the event to spread their awareness.
The JCC Federation of San Luis Obispo’s mission is to unify the Central Coast community with programs and services based on Jewish values.
The festival takes place at Cal Poly where there is currently no Jewish Studies department.
The program hopes to bring a diverse perspective and opportunity of learning to the Cal Poly community.
Holocaust survivor Gitta Ryle says, “We need to stay proud that we are Jews and that we want peace and I will educate people that there was such a thing and that it should never happen again.”
The learning festival continues on Saturday and Sunday. You can find further details on this website.
