San Luis Obispo is ranked number 11 in the nation for economic prosperity, population growth and rising incomes.

The personal finance website, GOBankingRates, analyzed 347 American cities with populations of 500,000 or less to find the top “boomtowns.”

The site looked at data on population, housing, GDP and income from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2017 American Community and the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

The site says San Luis Obispo is experiencing a 23.9% income increase, a 3.7% population increase, a 4.1% housing increase and a GDP increase of 26.2%.

GOBankingRates ranked San Luis Obispo in the top five cities for highest percentage increase in income. The site puts it in the bottom 10 for percentage increase in population.

San Luis Obispo ranks just above Sioux Falls, South Dakota and just below Miami, Florida.

Santa Maria also made the list, ranking 24th.

Other California cities that made the top 30 are Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz, Sacramento and Oxnard.
