A local school is commemorating World War I with a living museum experience.

Students from the Lucia Mar Unified School District displayed their work Wednesday night at Central Coast New Tech High in Nipomo.

Students and teachers engaged with local families to help raise awareness about WWI.

Participants were able to take part in interactive presentations that allowed students to work together in creative ways.

“It teaches us that we are in charge of our learning, and we can learn how we want to and because it is project-based learning, we are not stuck in a classroom being bored like most kids. We are able to present in front of peers and meet new people and talk about everything we have learned about,” said Aiden Arroao, a freshman.

This was part of a freshman-based project, and teachers say it allowed the students to grow and learn outside of the classroom.
