UPDATE (4:50 a.m.) – CHP officers have reopened the westbound lanes of Highway 154. The westbound side of the San Marcos Pass was closed for just over an hour Monday morning as first responders worked to clear a major-injury rollover crash.

First responders are on scene of a vehicle rollover crash on Highway 154 in Santa Ynez.

According to the CHP incident page, the crash was reported shortly after 2 a.m. Monday along San Marcos Pass near Camp Whittier.

Santa Barbara County Fire public information officer Danial Bertucelli says one person suffered severe injuries and firefighters are working to pull that person out of the car. It’s unclear how many people were in the vehicle.

CHP reports show the vehicle went 15-20 feet off the roadway and down a steep embankment, landing on its roof in a rocky area.

CHP officers have closed the westbound lanes of Highway 154. It’s unknown how long the closure will be in place.
