Santa Barbara County Superior Court seeking volunteers for Civil Grand Jury

The Santa Barbara County Superior Court announced Wednesday that it is seeking volunteers for the 2019-2020 Civil Grand Jury.

People who are interested must be a United States citizen, at least 18 years old, be of good character, have been a resident of Santa Barbara County for at least one year and they can’t have a prior felony conviction.

The Grand Jury has several responsibilities, including investigation and review of the departments and special districts of county and city government, involvement in fiscal or management audits and the preparation of reports on related matters. Reports will then be filed with recommendations for improvement of operations.

Grand Jury service is for a one-year period, beginning July 1, 2019, until June 30, 2020, and typically involves approximately 25 hours per week.

Applications for the 2019-2020 Grand Jury can be obtained from the court’s Jury Services offices in Santa Barbara and Santa Maria. People who are interested can call the Santa Barbara Office at (805) 882-4530 or the Santa Maria office at (805) 614-6464. Applications can also be downloaded from the court’s website.
