Caltrans installing temporary traffic signal as work continues on Lompoc area bridge

Posted

Drivers can expect some changes along Highway 1 near Lompoc, as Caltrans crews replace a bridge.

Caltrans is replacing the Salsipuedes Creek Bridge and constructing a retaining wall and fish passage along the highway.

This week, crews are installing a temporary traffic signal as they continue work on the project.

The traffic signal will operate 24/7 through May of 2020 and will help maintain one-way reversing traffic control.

Santa Maria-based CalPortland Construction is the contractor for the $5 million project.

It’s expected to be finished in June of 2021.
