At least two car crashes backed up traffic on Highway 101 northbound in Nipomo according to California Highway Patrol.
The first crash was reported at 12:16 p.m. on Sunday near the Tefft St. offramp, the second crash was reported at 12:31 p.m. also near the Tefft St. offramp, according to the CHP traffic incident page.
CHP officials said the crashes were a result of the back-up on Highway 101 north. A CHP official told KSBY that the cars were driving at an unsafe speed following too close, which is what caused the crash.
The first crash involved two cars, a black Ford and a white Lexus according to the CHP incident page.
The second collision involves three cars, a black Subaru, green Saturn and a silver Toyota Camry.
CHP said one person sustained a minor injury. No medics were called to the area.
Highway 101 northbound has been cleared up since the crash.
