Students at Laguna Middle School made a donation Thursday to San Luis Obispo County Animal Services as part of a class project.

The students raised funds during their annual “Pennies for Paws” event and decided to give the money to County Animal Services.

Students want the money to be used to supply additional resources to the facility.

“I know that they have really great people here to take care of all the animals, and it just made me happy to support an organization that really cares about animals because I care about animals a lot,” said Emily Niebuhn, an 8th-grade student at Laguna Middle School.

The leadership class raised a total of $4,118 for the organization.

The students presented the check to Dr. Anderson from San Luis Obispo County Animal Services.
