The community is coming together to remember Monica Gonzalez, one of the girls who died in a Santa Maria car crash on March 16.
Several car clubs held a car wash fundraiser on Sunday to help raise money for the families affected by the collision. Organizations involved include Illusive Car Club, Deviouz Performance, Vida Recia, 805 Camaros, and Lieutenant Customs.
20-year-old Monica Gonzalez, from Atascadero and 17-year-old Madison Elizabeth Coleman were killed by a suspected DUI driver in the intersection of Donovan Rd. and Miller St.
Police say Javier Artemio Cortez was at fault for the deadly crash. He’s due in court April 17.
