The San Luis Obispo Police Department is reporting a 50 percent decrease in thefts of items from cars for the beginning of 2019.

The police department tweeted Friday morning saying there was a significant decrease from January to February in the city.

The department says there were 23 thefts from cars in February, 13 of those cars were unlocked, seven had windows smashed, and three were thefts from truck beds.

The police department says despite the decrease, it’s still important to lock your car doors and remove any valuables from your car.
