UPDATE: Ojai motorcyclist killed in crash on Hwy 150 in Carpinteria

UPDATE (2 p.m.)The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office says a motorcyclist from Ojai died after colliding with a pickup truck in a Carpinteria intersection Friday morning.

It happened at about 6 a.m. when sheriff’s officials say the driver of a Ford F150 was attempting to turn from Highway 150 onto Via Real and collided with the motorcycle, which had also been traveling on Highway 150.

The motorcyclist, identified as Richard Cramer, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver, a 47-year-old man from Oxnard, was uninjured.

The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Major Accident Response Team is investigating the cause of the crash and whether drugs or alcohol may have been factors.

The highway was expected to be closed in the area until about noon.

UPDATE (8:15 a.m.) – Caltrans says Highway 150 from Highway 101 to Rincon Hill Road near Carpinteria will be closed until noon Friday due to the crash. Drivers are advised to use Highway 192 or local streets as detours.


 

ORIGINAL STORY: CHP officers are at the scene of a deadly crash in southern Santa Barbara County.

The crash was reported shortly after 6 a.m. Friday on Highway 150. It happened in an area just off Highway 101 near Rincon Beach Park in the Carpinteria area.

According to the CHP incident page, a motorcycle hit another vehicle in the area.

It is unclear who was killed in the crash.

The CHP had very limited information on what happened, saying it is very early in the investigation and officers are just arriving on the scene.

The CHP wasn’t aware of any impacts to traffic in the area at this time.
