Local veterans and first responders who are suffering from PTSD can learn about an important resource Wednesday.

The Santa Maria Public Library will hold a presentation from a service dog organization called New Life K9s.

The San Luis Obispo-based organization connects veterans or first responders who are suffering from PTSD with highly educated service dogs. The dogs are then placed with veterans or first responders free of charge.

Two presenters will talk about the organization’s work on Wednesday. One is a retired first responder who also has PTSD and was a recipient of a New Life K9s service dog.

The presentation goes from 1 to 2 p.m. in Shepard Hall.

The library is located at 421 South McClelland Street.
