The White House is hitting back against a massive new investigation of President Donald Trump by House Democrats.
“It’s a shame and the people understand it. When they look at it, they just say ‘presidential harassment,'” President Trump said Tuesday. “I’m not surprised that it’s happening. Basically, they’re starting the campaign.”
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders calls the sweeping request for documents from 81 people connected to the president “disgraceful and abusive.”
Democrats are defending the probe as proper oversight.
“We have to investigate and hold hearings and layout for the American people if the administration is involved in abuse of, abuses of power or obstruction of justice,” said Rep. Jerry Nadler, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.
