Highway 154 will reopen Friday afternoon after it was damaged in a recent winter storm.
Caltrans announced the highway will reopen at 2 p.m. between Cachuma Lake and Live Oak as long as the weather cooperates.
The highway has been closed since early February when a storm blocked a culvert and caused water to flow over the highway. The culvert’s opening was clogged with debris and under some 40 feet of water at one point.

Caltrans crews worked around the clock to reopen the highway. They were able to clear the blocked culvert, rebuild an embankment, and repair damaged pavement in the area.

Drivers may still come across one-way reversing traffic control as Caltrans does additional work in the location.
Santa Maria-based CalPortland Construction was the contractor for the $2.2 million project.
