The SLO Comedy Festival kicks off this weekend.

It’s the ninth year for the festival, and comedians will be performing throughout the weekend.

Organizers say the show will continue, although one of the well-known headliners, Brody Stevens, passed away Friday of an apparent suicide. Stevens appeared in The Hangover, Due Date and the Chelsea Lately show.

Fellow comedians say he was full of positive energy and would have wanted the show to go on.

They say the festival is a great chance to get out of the house and enjoy human interaction, without the distraction of televisions and cell phones.

“The happiest place in the world gets way more happier and the comedians feed off that energy. It’s just, every comedian that leaves here says I want to do shows like San Luis Obispo crowds. Among the comedian circuit, the crowds in San Luis are number one definitely in the country,” said Eric Schantz, Comedy Festival Director.
