Posted at 9:20 AM, Feb 20, 2019

San Luis Obispo Symphony’s Labor Day weekend concert is returning to Avila Beach.

Pops-by-the-Sea will take place Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Avila Beach Golf Resort.

The event was an annual tradition for many before the sudden cancelation in 2015.

Now under the direction of conductor Andrew Sewell, the symphony plans to perform the music of Crosby, Stills & Nash, The Who, Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, The Band, Jefferson Airplane, and more for the event’s return.

“For nearly 25 years, the San Luis Obispo Symphony’s family-friendly Pops-by-the-Sea concerts have entertained thousands of music lovers on the Central Coast. This year’s event honors that tradition and offers the community an afternoon by the sea of sun, fun, and great music,” the symphony said in a press release.

Tickets go on sale June 1 at slosymphony.org.
