Wine and food festival raises thousands for graduating high school students

Posted

Downtown Cayucos turned into a small-town Paris Sunday afternoon for a wine and food festival.

About 250 people packed into Cayucos Elementary School to help raise money for local graduating seniors. It’s the Lion and Lioness Clubs’ biggest fundraiser of the year.

Organizers expect to raise about $10,000 to help local students go to college this year.

“It’s completely done by the local people here, the Lions and the Lionesses, and it’s done to promote and benefit our children in this town, so it’s kind of like a home-grown event,” said Carol Kramer, the event coordinator.

Twelve graduating high school seniors will be receiving the funds. Between the fundraiser and bank funds, the Lion and Lioness Clubs expect to give each student at least $1,000 for college.
