Some lucky beer lovers got a special treat on Saturday as a popular Bay Area beer made its debut on the Central Coast.

‘Pliny the Younger’ is brewed up in Santa Rosa. It’s a triple IPA, meaning it’s higher in alcohol and has extra hops. Pliny the Younger is brewed once a year and released the first Friday in February at Russian River Brewery.

People in the Bay Area line up for days just to get a taste of the beer. In Libertine Pub in Morro Bay Saturday, the beer was gone within an hour.

“This is a triple IPA, It’s a very difficult IPA to make and normally they don’t send it outside of their brewery, we’re one of the lucky few to be able to get a keg of it,” said Michael Osmundsom, a bartender at Libertine.

Those who wanted a taste of Pliny the Younger had to be at Libertine by noon to taste it. Employees say people started lining up before 10:30 a.m.
