UPDATE: Hwy 41 reopens in Atascadero following crash

UPDATE (4:30 p.m.) – Highway 41 is back open after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole Thursday morning.

The California Highway Patrol says it’s unknown what caused the driver to go off the road and crash into the pole. No arrests were made.

AT&T responded and removed the downed telephone lines and pole.


 

UPDATE (11:35 a.m.) – Caltrans said at 11:30 a.m. that one lane of Highway 41 at San Gabriel Road in Atascadero had reopened. It is not known when the highway will fully reopen.


 

(5:51 a.m.) – California Highway Patrol says a car crashed into a pole on Highway 41 near Old Morro Road leading to the closure of the highway.

According to CHP, nobody was injured in the crash, however, power lines did fall across the roadway early Thursday morning.

As of 5:15 a.m., closures were in place on Highway 41 at San Gabriel Road in Atascadero through Highway 1 in Morro Bay.

There is no estimated time on how long the closure will be in place.

CHP is investigating the cause of the crash.
