Suspect arrested after fleeing from traffic stop in Atascadero

Posted

A woman was arrested Monday after CHP officers say she fled during a traffic stop.

The CHP says it happened around 12:30 p.m. Monday on Highway 101 southbound at Del Rio in Atascadero.

A Templeton CHP officer responded to the area for a report of a reckless driver who was speeding and going in and out of lanes.

The officer located a white 2017 Toyota Camry and attempted to stop the vehicle.

Initially, CHP says the female driver pulled into the median at Traffic Way. However, CHP says the woman then sped up and drove away when the officer tried to contact her. CHP says she hit speeds of more than 100 miles per hour at times and made unsafe lane changes.

Officers eventually stopped her by spiking one of her tires just south of the Cuesta Summit.

Officers identified the suspect as Ariana Danica Joyce, 42, of San Francisco.

She was arrested on suspicion of felony evading.
