Southbound Highway 101 lane closures along Cuesta Grade begin next week.
The No. 2 (middle) and No. 3 (right) lanes of southbound 101 will be closed from the top of Cuesta Grade to south of Old Stagecoach Road beginning Wednesday, January 23 at 9 a.m. until Thursday, January 24 at 5 a.m.
Caltrans will be making pavement and drainage improvements to the highway due to a sinkhole developing.
This roadwork will also include the removal and replacement of a failed drainage culvert beneath those lanes.
This emergency project will cost San Luis Obispo County around $40,000, while also ensuring a safe highway for thousands of motorists who use the Cuesta Grade.
Motorists should expect slowing in this construction zone and anticipate delays not to exceed 15 minutes.
